Long committed to providing environmentally-friendly products, the Andersen Corporation, Renewal by Andersen’s parent company, leads in energy-efficient strategies and innovation. Over multiple generations, employees have looked for smarter and better ways to use natural resources, which have ultimately influenced our windows’ and doors’ design, craftsmanship, and quality.
Renewing Existing Housing
Since beginning in 1995, Renewal by Andersen has replaced 2 million windows in 300,000 homes across the country. While the Andersen Corporation, in creating its subsidiary, looked to present a start-to-finish solution for homeowners, a significant aspect of Renewal by Andersen’s efforts are in improving homes’ environmental efficiency.
If you aren’t aware, the typical property uses significantly more energy and can be attributed to more carbon emissions than the typical vehicle. While our products assist with reducing energy costs and consumption, they improve property values and neighborhood livability and give older homes modern functionality and efficiency.
Indoor Air Quality
Do you know that the average person spends about 90 percent of his or her time indoors? As a result, he or she breathes in chemicals released by products, even years after installation, through off-gassing – a process in which toxins escape through evaporation from building materials. Poor indoor air quality, because of this invisible process, is one of the top five health hazards in the United States.
In an effort to combat this, Renewal by Andersen and the Andersen Corporation are the only window companies to receive Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) Indoor Advantage™ Gold Certification, which specifies the strictest indoor air standards in the U.S. Products, as a result, meet California Section 01350 specifications.
Durable, Reclaimed Materials
Composing our window frames and sashes, Fibrex® consists of 40-percent reclaimed wood fiber by weight and combines its strength and natural insulation with the durability of vinyl. As a result, our windows earned the top SCS-certified recycled content of any replacement company, and will not crack, pit, corrode, or rot.
A significant portion of the wood fibers for our windows come from Andersen Corporation’s wood window manufacturing facilities.
All windows, as well, come with High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass, made from a minimum of 12-percent reclaimed glass by weight. Along with this, an innovative coating reduces exterior water spots by 99 percent, improving both cleaning and the view. Our glass, as well, blocks damaging UV rays and even reduces noise pollution.
Reducing Energy Consumption
Renewal by Andersen’s High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass, combined with greater surface area and precision installation, can save a homeowner up to 25 percent on energy bills throughout the year. According to U.S. Department of Energy estimates, windows influence 40 percent of a home’s annual heating and cooling budget.
In striving to create the next level of energy-efficient technology, Renewal by Andersen introduced its SmartSun™ glass. Compared to standard dual pane options, SmartSun™ is 70-percent more energy efficient in summer and 45-percent more in winter.
While our Fibrex® material lasts longer than both vinyl and wood, one of the strongest limited warranties in the industry supports all products and installation services. Stronger windows and doors translate to fewer replacements years from now – which, in turn, results in less landfill waste.
